“时代变了,那时候我们不需要工作室,兜里揣着方案就可以做展览,你有200个,我就有300个。”
“那时候都自己搞展览,找二、三十个艺术家,谁先到了,就抢个位置,作品一放,还需要什么策展。”
“你们还真够反智的,还能这么玩,这一拍脑门子就一件作品,全靠逞勇斗狠啊?”
“那也不全是,也有玩编程的,玩互动的。”
“我当时以为那作品是个机械装置,几分钟动一下,后来才知道有个人躲在隔墙里面。抽完一根烟,正好三分钟,里面拉一下绳子,外面就动一下。”
“高科技啊……”

“Times have changed. Back then, we didn’t need studios—just a proposal in your pocket and you could mount an exhibition. You had 200 ideas? I had 300.”
“Everyone organized their own exhibitions in these days. You’d gather 20 or 30 artists, whoever showed up first grabbed a spot. Just hang your work—who ever needed a curator?”
“You guys were really anti-intellectual. So that’s how it worked? Just slap together a piece on a whim? All about guts and bravado, huh?”
“Well, not all of it. Some were into programming, some were doing interactive stuff.”
“I thought that piece was a mechanical installation—it moved every few minutes. Later I found out someone was hiding behind the wall. He’d smoke a cigarette, time it for three minutes, then pull a string to make it move.”
“High tech, huh…”
